My name is Kenny Albert, also known as Kenny Cloudkicker in the world of flat-track Roller Derby. When I started playing Derby in 2009 I found out very quickly like many others have, that it starts out as a hobby but soon becomes a lifestyle. It allowed me to travel, meet a lot of awesome people from all over the world and has inspired me to do things outside of the sport that have improved my way of living, the most significant being my health and fitness Even after retiring in 2016 I still continue with my training, going to the gym 5-6 times a week.
Another passion of mine is my LOVE for Heavy Metal ever since my mother showed me Black Sabbath and later by my cousin who had me listen to a lot of Metal bands, such as Metallica, Megadeth, Overkill, Sepultura, and Testament. This would eventually lead to going to a countless amount of concerts, running the Metal department of my college’s radio station, and using it has vehicle to deal with the harshness of everyday life.
The idea to start a blog came shortly after I had lost my job for the 3rd time in 2 years (I’m not a doctor, but I don’t recommend it) and was trying to keep myself busy with whatever I could find so that I wouldn’t go absolutely crazy while I was looking for a new job. A good friend of mine had recently started a new blog and I could tell that he had a lot of fun doing it. After reading through a bunch of other blogs I figured I’d give writing a try since I talk about Roller Derby, weightlifting, and music everyday.
So, I hope you enjoy my ramblings about throwing 45lb. plates across the gym, and listening to breakdowns and blast beats at an extremely high volume!
